It's very sad to hear but it is also the times we live in that people just want things for free and don't understand the work it takes to produce something of quality.
As a TTRPG designer myself, I understand the joy and blessing it feels when others enjoy your work. Plus, with family being a priority, you want to make sure that whatever you are doing on the side is also fulfilling so you can keep some level of sanity.
I'm not very active in the TTRPG community as I was last year, but if ever you want to collaborate and need a worldbuilder/writer for some content, I very much enjoy creating content like that. Especially for setting agnostic systems.
Thank you, and yeah you're right. It's been a whole journey and I'm glad to have developed the app. But just can't justify investing energy in it for the joy it brings me back. And about the writing gig, I'll add this to my notes. Always on the lookup for cool creators especially to bring on as guest writers for projects!
Totally understandable to hear, but I'm glad you're at least keeping the current setup going for the foreseeable future. It's my favorite way to test my games, and I certainly haven't spent nearly enough time thanking you.
Yeah, I'm not planning on killing the app anytime soon. I just want to be as transparent as I can about the future of the app so that people invest their time in energy in the right things.
Having spent a couple months behind the scenes of another VTT, I know how much work needs to go into not just the technology, but supporting the community and a business. That's a lot to ask for a team much less one person (even if that person is as talented and enthusiastic as you!)

I Applaud the fruits of your efforts and labor in not only creating a great app that I Really Liked using, but that it opened the doors for all of these other great opportunities for you. I just found Fari APP and let me tell you, it's amazing! Just a couple minutes were enough to know this is my plataform of choice.
I started with tis hobby not so much ago and haven't had much time to actually play, and found that most of that time I spent dealing with the VTT than actually playing. But somehow you managed to acheive what a VTT should be: a tool you don't have to think of whie you are using it (and allowing fully functional FATE and PbTA character sheets). At first I thought it's a shame you won't be updating it any more, but after my first session I don't think it needs any improvements, It's perfect as it is.
I’m a bit late to the party since I just discovered fari.app a few days ago, but I’ve been looking for a noob-friendly alternative to DnD Beyond since I don’t have the money to subscribe and get all the content. I found aurora builder, but I wasn’t able to roll dice; someone on Reddit recommended your app and I love it! There was a 5e template I could use and I was able to play around with it and create a sheet that works for me. Thanks for putting so much time into the product so people like me can continue participating in TTRPG! Wishing you luck with all your future endeavors, both work wise and personally!
+1 to all the comments below, and i want to add that your thousands (tens of thousands??) of hours of work for Fari VTT has changed my life for the better. Being able to enjoy Fate online with more than a dozen different friends (that's a lot for me, an introvert :D ) over the past handful of years has been amazing. I even made new friends because of it, and many of my old & new friends were introduced to Fate for the first time because of your work.
I'm sad & frustrated along with you, about the impressively awful attitudes you can find on the internet... but I'm also relieved and happy that you found some of the brighter corners of the web!
Thanks you so much for everything you've given us, and me personally– not just the app itself but all of the conversations and healthy community you instigated and nourished, at great expense to yourself (and your family who had to share you with us, haha!)
