Recently, I talked about Rules-Bright TTRPGs, and the posts really took off so I decided to create a fun little icon pack for you all to identify your games as "Rules-Bright."
The idea behind these is not to create a marketing brand that people recognize, but rather to offer designers a self-claimed stamp to say they have put in the effort to align their rules more closely with the themes of their games.
More Details
Don't assume that just because a game has this label, it guarantees that the mechanics effectively support the game's themes.
Some may take those icons and shoehorn them into a so-called slice-of-life game that uses DnD-like mechanics, and there's nothing we can do about that. There is no golden hammer nor perfect solution.
The idea behind designing this logo was that if you want to use it, you should ask yourself the following question:
Have I designed something that's generic in nature, or have I designed a system that works in tandem or enhances the themes of my game?
If a designer asks themselves this question and it makes them think twice about the mechanics of their game, then my job is done. As such, this is more a tool for designers than it is a marketing brand.
No game is perfect, but if an effort was made, then we all win. Many designers don't know that this is even something they should think about.
All of that being said, enjoy the icons and use responsibly!
